"A typical day at work consisted of clocking in, making sure the store was clean, and the drawers had the right amount of money in them. Management was somewhat pleasant but very strict. I learned how to bag a dress and how to wrap up certain things as gifts The hardest part of the job was dealing with some customers. "I manage Deb Shops for over five years stayed with the company through one bankruptcy and finally pulled out with the last bankruptcy got recruited by Rue 21 it was the best decision I ever made in my life. He filed bankruptcy now gone and only has online sales for plus clothing only it was the worst company I’ve ever worked for Management team did not work together well sales associates called off every other day it just was not well organized or handled in a professional manner Online sales might be better now but they’re only generated for plus size women"

"Business was very slow. Managers felt that they were better than everyone. They had the most strict policies, which is okay but they were overboard. You had to be walked out of the store, like you were being punished, when your shift was over."

"This store has since closed down. But it wasn't the best job to have. They would fire people without replacing anyone so as a new assistant manager, I learned everything on my own because I had no store manager to train me. I was also listed as part time, but i was working 40-50 hours per week because of being short staffed. They didn't move me to full time management because they didn't want to give me the benefits."

"A typical day at Deb Shops was a Migraine that you couldn't get rid of. I basically had to learn on my own.. For a manager position they train you for 2 weeks then throw you in the jungle with the wolves. They never was clear on the direction for the company, never consisting with their higher levels. Didn't pay managers nor employees well.. The hardest part of the job was not being able to communicate with you District Manager when need be.. The only thing that kept me going was the wondeful staff that I had.My staffhorrible!!!!"

"I was hired on promised so many hours, and by the time I finally quit I was getting 5 hours a week, plus about 15 on call (which basically meant I had to sit at home and wait for a phone call for 4+ hours). The management told me and a few other girls after awhile that we never looked "Deb material". Favorites were played. Horrible advancement. Doesn't like to work with you on outside life or comfortable footwear."

The store manager was horrible had worked for the company for years had too many complaints for the store manager than you could count but the company did nothing about it. She went through and fired at least seven assistant managers a year. More than any other store manager in the company. And they didn't see this is a problem. That maybe it was her and not the assistant managers. Would never work or go back into any of the stores again"

"Barely pay over minimum wage for management responsibility. 12-14 hours days often with no overtime pay and you are expected to be on-call for anything. If a regional or district manager was scheduled to visit your store or would show up unannounced, management was required to work around their schedule even if that included coming in on your day off or if you already had family plans during off-time. Full-time salaried and experienced employees can earn more at an hourly retail job elsewhere (department stores or larger specialty retail) without the demanding management responsibilities."

"No rewards for excellent performance. Only criticism. A manager would leave passive aggressive notes threatening employees job security. This happened on a few occassions. If one person wasn't doing well it was sometimes taken out on all of us. No security cams or sensors on clothing at our location. If a customer complained you were instantly assumed as guilty (goes back to the no security cams)."

"I placed my ordered November 11,2020 and here we are December 18th and still no package. At this point I just wanted a refund. I click the little bubble and tried talking to the rep. Is there a number I can call and talk to a real representative because I was not happy nor am I satisfied with my services from the company. So I'm speaking and expressing my dissatisfaction with everything and their responses were so ignorant. I have screenshot to prove just how rude and unprofessional they were."

"So I placed my very first order a couple of months ago. I waited 1 month for my order and it was not here. So I called and they told me that it has not been quite a full month and that it should be there before the month. I told the lady over the phone it's 5 more days for it to be a full month since I ordered. I received it 3 days later PRIORITY with the date of delivery the day after I called. This tells me that had I not called I would still be waiting. Anywho, I opened the box and out of 7 items I bought 2 fit okay (not loose like i like it) and it wasn't completely sheer. The rest was thin, sheer, a little too small (which I'm an extra large and never had I needed to buy a size bigger), and unwearable. But with Deb's Shop ya do have to buy a size bigger and be prepared to wear sheer shirts and pants bc it is not true to your size. Some shirts and pants look thick in the picture and when you receive it it's thin and sheer. Never will order again!"

"This store used to be my absolute favorite. The style they go for now is completely ridiculous and I cannot see normal people wearing their products. I got all of my homecoming and prom dresses from this store and most of my classmates did too. We are all now in college looking for more formal dresses for our sorority party and I thought you guys would be a great option again. Boy was I wrong. You have destroyed this brand completely."

"I went into debs in the mall in SC north woods mall, I found a small hole in one shirt I bought and black dots on a tangtop I bought and wanted to exchange them for the same shirt and tangtop and I had my receipt.... The women who I was talking to was rude and unprofessional and refused to let me exchange the two shirts because I did not have the tags....really a receipt should have been enough. The women told me they need the tags to place the shirt and tangtop back on the racks and that response shocked me that they would actually resell stained and ripped items! After that experience I will not return...I loved shopping there but after that I will not go back!"
